Lindsey Stirling and Mako deliver beautiful, acoustic rendition of their moving hit single “Lose You Now”

Platinum-selling electronic artist, violinist, and multi-talented entertainer Lindsey Stirling has released an acoustic version and new music video for her hit single “Lose You Now” with singer-songwriter and producer Mako. “Lose You Now (Acoustic)” strips down the emotive song to just piano and strings that beautifully captures its lyrics about loss and grief.

“Lose You Now” was written in memory of two important people in Stirling’s life that she’s sadly lost over the past few years: her father, Stephen, and her best friend, accomplished musician and producer Jason Gaviati. Loss is something that can never be overcome but only learned to cope with. With “Lose You Now (Acoustic),” Stirling and Mako connect deeper to the meaning of loss in terms of pure musical rawness and lyricism. “I’ll keep you in my life somehow,” sings Mako as Stirling accompanies him on violin.

“Lose You Now” was originally released earlier this year and has since garnered over 6 million global streams, including nearly 3 million views on YouTube. Stirling’s longtime fans will recognize the instrumental of the song from her track “Guardian” from her most recent chart-topping album Artemis.

“We thought an acoustic version that strips it down to its beautiful and raw core could reach people in a whole new way,” Stirling shared. “Creating ‘Lose You Now’ and its music video brought me peace and I’m so glad that we have been able to share that healing with everyone, especially with what we all have been going through this past year.”

Though the meaning of the song remains the same, Stirling and Mako switch up the setting of the music video from an old warehouse to a more intimate setting. We still see Mako singing at the piano pouring over the lyrics while Stirling leaves the rugged look behind for a more formal dress. The essence of this new version of the song is perfectly captured with the sheer minimalism of the video. All you need is Mako, Stirling, a couple of string players, and lights to set the mood.
