Dr. Dre announces he will be releasing “Compton: A Soundtrack” August 7th

“This is something you’re not gonna hear many artists say. The reason why ‘Detox’ didn’t come out is because I didn’t like it. It wasn’t good. The record, it just wasn’t good. I’ma keep it all the way 1000 with you. Seriously, I worked my ass off. I don’t think I did a good enough job, and I couldn’t do that to my fans, and I couldn’t do that to myself, to be perfectly honest with you. I just wasn’t feeling it.”

If you ask someone under 15 who Dr. Dre is they may not know anything other than the old guy who sells headphones. Those in the know can recognize Dre as one of the most influential men in rap. Now that that is out of the way, this man has not released Detox after pretty much hinting it for over a decade. His two prior albums, 92’s The Chronic & 99’s Chronic 2001, are heralded classics but little hope was left that we would ever hear another full project with Dre at the helm. That changes with the Dr. Dre announcing that he is set to release Compton: A Soundtrack. The music, available for pre-order now, is inspired by the NWA biopic Straight Outta Compton and will be released on August 7th. Peep the star studded tracklist featuring O.G.’s like Snoop and Cube current superstars like Kendrick and many more.
