Tayf3rd – It’s Crazy What I’d Do For You (Album Review)

Ever had that feeling that someone just had a certain power over you? That they could pretty much make you do things you never have? Well if that’s the case you should be able to relate to Tayf3rd’s It’s Crazy What I’d Do For You.

From the first second til the end the project is brimming at the top with passion and honesty. While not necessarily emotional in structure the inspiration definition comes from some very real feelings towards a certain lady. The short set starts with the Intro, a hard hitting record that sets the tone for whats to come. It sums up the whole reason why the album even exists with hard lyrics directed towards the muse “I made an album out of all that shit, and this is what I call that shit ‘It’s crazy what I’d do for you”.  Following this record is probably the one that is most suited for radio play in Sherman Way. As he relates himself to Peewee Herman over a heavy synth filled instrumental King Tayf3rd reflects on how his actions have led to a life alone. Definitely a record that’s instrumental to “the turn up” though even with the content. Can’t help but to get hype when you hear it. The project then perfectly transitions into track three, #ByMyself gets even more introspective and emotional as Tayf3rd tries to cope with the lonely feeling of heartbreak. This leads into my personal favorite from the album #SameThang. This one is more about the camaraderie that is attached with being in love rather than the flaws and trouble it can bring. Production is amazing too with a more menacing melody than what’s heard on the other tracks. Track 5 is #You which is more in the lane of the intro in the sense that it is more like a conversation with the lady in question more so than music. “Pussy I’m passin it, out for the money I’m abstinent/Left me in pain that was blasphemous, now all this money I’m flashin it/All of this music is passionate, streets show me love without asking it”. ICWIDFY ends with the Monogamy single that caught waves over the course of the summer. With the content matter being based around trust the record was a great choice for ending the album.

All-in-all what Tayf3rd was able to accomplish here is to take an emotion that so many have felt before and create a cohesive sound out of it. Each record sticks to the overlaying matter at hand which is the fact that his love for this person would take him to heights and lows that are unbelievable. The melodic nature of each song hammers home the inspired feelings while still being lyrically vivid. Another plus is that at just over 16 minutes it is an easy listen that is perfect for a quick spin. Every song is straight to the point with no filler. The only question left to be asked is who is this person that inspired such a dope project? The world may never know but what I do know for certain is that its crazy what he’d do for her.
