Looking at Kyle Denmead from the outside in it may seem as though he has it pretty good. A simple Google search will show you that his recent rise as a solo singer is only a piece of the success that he can currently claim. The list of achievements also include but aren’t limited to his Orlando, Fla recording studio 212 Recordings and a Cash Money Records deal as a part of the production team The Avengerz. What could be so rough about that, right? The answer to what has troubled Kyle is to be understood only upon listening to his EP, Therapy.
On his debut work of art Kyle Denmead paints the potrait of a man dealing with heartbreak. This one is themetically organized in a way that would rival even the greatest screenwriter. From beginning to end you’re taken on a journey first hand through Kyle’s heart and mind. What he manages to show us is vivid and captivating.
Sticking with the therapeutic theme of the project, recordings of Kyle’s sessions with a psychiatrist of his own are strategically placed from time to time. This does a fine job of placing you in the exact mind set that the producer-turned-singer is living in every moment. He bears his soul when speaking to the therapist but also throughout his content. From the obvious regret on Easy to moments of realization and acceptance on Love Me Love the raw emotion is tangible. You can tell the work was put in to make every single record involved have a meaning and it turned out well.
If you’re a fan of concept projects and are looking for some new alternative R&B I urge you to give it a listen. It’s available for stream above as well as spotify now, iTunes soon to come. If you like what you hear check out the interview we did with him leading up to the release as well, I’m sure you’ll enjoy.
