We here at 1DF have always been admirers of talent in individuals, but even more so of their hearts. As the world seemingly gets crazier and crazier it’s nice to recognize people who are out here helping to spread love, knowledge and joy. One such person is DaMarcus Hughes, also known as Marc Hughes Music, who continues to do great works through his organization.
On December 10, 2016, DaMarcus T. Hughes Foundation sponsored the “Meet & Greet with Isaiah ‘Ike’ Hayes, The Youth Advocate”. Mr. Hayes makes his mark on the world through the children, assisting with vital lessons in education, relationships, health, employment and more. Though Ike considers himself “The Youth Advocate” it is quite clear that we all could learn a few things from him no matter the age.
The event took place in Gautier, MS, at Delo’s Heavenly House of Coffee and was hosted by the lovely radio personality Sheena Myles of JZ 94.5. All attendees enjoyed mingling with others of the Jackson County community, while familiarizing themselves with the Youth Advocate and his lovely wife Ebony Hayes.
During the Q&A, moderated by Sheena Myles of JZ94.5, Ike shared what keeps him motivated. He stated, “If I can prepare them for their future…if they can see their future like they’ve never seen it before, that’s an accomplishment. That’s what motivates me.” Statements like that go far to show the heart possessed by Mr. Hayes, one that places others at the forefront instead of himself.
As 2017 approaches positivity is needed and events like these are as positive as it gets. I urge you all to follow the words of Ike Hayes and help to prepare the youth for the life’s challenges. After all, the future is in their hands, why not give them what they need to succeed?
