British singer-songwriter David Mark Bulley is back with his most raw and honest track to date: ‘The Calm Before The Storm’.
Last summer, David’s personal struggles got the better of him, leaving him to feel worthless, lost and stuck in a dark place. With no desire to create music, or even to wake up the next morning, he locked himself away in his room. By chance, he decided to listen to the voice notes on his phone and came across an old hook which later turned into ‘The Calm Before The Storm’.
Described by David as “a song about reflection, growth and hope”, ‘The Calm Before The Storm’ looks back on the self-loathing experienced by David during that summer and the destruction it caused both physically and mentally.
However, the song takes an empowering turn during the anthemic chorus as David acknowledges that it is possible to find light even during the darkest of times. With hopeful lyrics and a rousing beat, the track is the perfect reminder that we are strong enough to overcome any battle.
Upon its release, the track peaked at number 14 on the iTunes Singer Songwriter chart, a promising start for David’s new music.
‘The Calm Before The Storm’ is taken from David’s upcoming album, which is due for release later this year. Armed with a new mindset and a new found confidence in himself, David’s forthcoming era of music is set to be his most eye-opening and cohesive work to date.
