Rap Dyad The Corner Store Present New Single

If Corner Store creators Joe and Understanding, aka Beautiful Idiots, were to put ‘Alchemist’ at the top of their resumé, nobody could question it. With a growing catalogue of sonic goodness as they operate as artists, a record label and comedians, the New York natives now return with a welcome addition of braggadocious hip hop ‘This That Shit’ – the first of six singles to be released monthly for the rest of 2023.

Having created a sound that resembles a transformative potion of otherworldly hip hop and echoes of evergreen old school fusion tones, the masters of alchemy have stirred up some magic yet again. By choosing the perfect musical elements and seamlessly integrating them, this new offering lends itself to a listening experience that is helplessly intoxicating.

“It is what it is, this that shit…” – The Corner Store

With projects like ‘Roe’s Garden’ and ‘The New Hippies already putting their catalogue before a well-versed group of fans, The Corner Store’s fascination with sound and melody formation is ever-growing. Also staffed by the likes of 1000Kicks, a patient practitioner, and MadUrthur, a starry-eyed dreamer, they have teamed up to deliver a new kind of hip-hop soundscape.

They reside in Hopeless Junction, an island full of broken people, where the only way out is by sky. Having begun as bitter rivals, working at The Corner Store showed them they were stronger together and since teaming up, 1000Kicks and MAdUrthur have been relentless in their pursuit, illustrating their world through their music, and won’t stop until they earn their wings.

As Beautiful Idiots stitch together various artistic endeavours in a seamless, genre-bending fashion, they create refreshingly different sounds as they continue to explore all avenues of creative expression. The evolution of this form of hip hop is rooted in Joe and Understanding’s love of the genre and experience of working alongside Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA over the years, and their passion only piques more as they strike the perfect balance of mellow cadence and recite-worthy hooks. As these artists continue to interlink classic, evergreen rap styles with pleasing, unexpected flips, the signature unruffled and unhurried flow is one that resonates with every hip hop lover.
