I think everyone would agree that there is a vast difference from listening to an artist and going to see them in concert. The concert atmosphere brings a one-dimensional listening pattern and transforms it into a full-ranged experience where one can feel, see, and react to the music with people who obviously share similar feelings to . The artist is most vital to this though, as they are the focus. If the artist is not making the effort to connect with his fans everything is thrown off throughout the performance.
As D. Horton continues to progress in his career, he releases a candid vlog documenting his “Connection” with the fans as he performs. It’s a look in the mirror for Horton, as he is vivid in describing the signs he is notified of when doing his live shows. “Spiritual” is a word he uses to describe the feeling, and the Rey Leubh-directed clip captures that flawlessly.
It’s a perspective rarely touched on from what would be considered an “underground” rapper, but one that provides great insight. Adding an extra punch are cameos from some other notable talents in Josh Waters, Dev Maccc & Quavius Black. Watch below and be sure to keep an eye out for D. Horton’s upcoming EP and performance at A3C Festival October 5th.
