Minty is also placing the finishing touches on his latest mixtape and clothing line, both named “The Dispensary”. As he continues to make process we at 1DF reached out to get more info about both his past and his future.

So to start could you tell anyone getting a first impression of you a bit about yourself?

My name is Minty Burns I come from Toronto, Canada but I hate the cold. I make music for people who like to smoke and appreciate all elements of hip hop. Some people call me the Green Man and I’m here to take over this rap shit one fan at a time.

I would like to know more about your upbringing? What was growing up like for you?

Growing up in Toronto I got to experience a bit of everything. My city is a diverse mixing pot, with a lot of culture. I used to skate and cause trouble as a kid. When I got to middle school I started listening to hip hop and that’s where I began to write music.

What made you start doing music? Were you ever apprehensive about taking it seriously?

I started free styling at house parties, which led to me recording songs over other people’s beats. After that I got into battle rap and won a few major battles in the city. I was really hyped on making music so I got my own studio and went all in after that.

If you had to describe your sound to someone who has never heard you before how would you describe your sound?

When you listen to Minty Burns you’re going to hear lots of melodic sounds in the beat and in my vocals. I like to paint a picture with my words and take you to another place visually. I look up to all the greats so you’re always going to hear some lyrics in my shit.

Who are some of the artists who inspire you?

Big Pun, Fabolous, Jada, Eminem, T.I.

What do you like about those artists and how do you feel there work reflects in your sound?

I like their smooth delivery and ability to speak about real circumstances in there music but still keep it flashy and fun.

What do you think is the best song you’ve ever made and why?

That’s a tough question because I make so many different vibes but Party All The time ft Robin Banks is a certified banger and always puts me in a good mood when it comes on.

Everyone has dreams of where they expect to be. For you personally when will you be able to say that you have become “successful”?

I know everything is working out when I’m sitting in a big house I own with a studio in it and a few other properties in places I love to be in. When the world really can see the sauce I’m bringing to the culture of weed and hip hop.

To date what has been the biggest challenge you have ever faced in your life?

Leaving home and learning to make my own way on the road. When you’re out there grinding everyone wants to watch but very few are willing to help.

How were you able to overcome that challenge?
By sticking my head up through tough times and appreciating that regardless of the bumps in the road I’m still doing what I love. Everyday I keep grinding to bring my vision to life.

What is the thing you are most proud of in your life?

Just being able to create and build something that has an impact on the world and change peoples lives. I like to be an inspiration to my fans and anyone that’s following what I’m doing.

If you would say there is one thing not many people know about you what would that be?

I use to play professional paintball and I can snipe them if they try to play with me or my team.

What would you like for your lasting legacy to be when it’s all said and done?

I want people to have a MINTY BURNS discography of great music and to still be repping my name and brand a long time after I’m gone.

What else can people look for from you in the near future?

My new mixtape is dropping this spring, it’s called The Dispensary. It features Zoey Dollaz, Lil Duke, Big Lean, 808 Mafia and more. Also stay in tune with me on social media I do a weed vlog called Weed Wednesday’s every week. Check out my Dispensary clothing line and look forward to new music and products coming soon.

Before we conclude is there anything else you would like to say to anyone reading?
