Exclusive Interview: Meet Rising Artist MAJIN

Tell us about your background getting to where you are today?
I’ve always been singing from an extremely young age. Growing up on Michael Jackson, The Delfonics, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Elton John etc. I would close my eyes and lose myself in the music. This ultimately led to me wanting to create original songs to put out publicly. By the time I was fifteen, I had written more than a few songs, and at sixteen, I had made contact with a fellow artist in the city who owned a studio. From there on out I have been writing, recording and releasing.
Where are you from?
While I spent some of my childhood in Southampton, England, I have been in Canada most of my life. Edmonton is kind of a boring place to be if you are a creative; however, I have tried to make it work and so far, it has.

When did you start music?
I have been singing since about the age of four.

How did you get into music?
Growing up on all kinds of artists from all genres and generations, I discovered my love for music at a really young age. I would go from Pink Floyd to Bruno Mars to The Weeknd to Beach house. I really do have a diverse taste when it comes to music and I am willing to learn and listen to just about anything.

What is the most challenging thing you have overcome in your life?
Musically, I’ve struggled with having enough confidence to put something out publicly in general.

Are you currently signed or independent?
Currently signed too 28 entertainment.

Who inspires you the most musically?
I wouldn’t say there is a single one person who inspires me most. Sometimes I could be sitting on the couch and something would come to me and there is no telling what might’ve inspired that. I just make whatever comes to me.

What do you want people to take away after listening to your music?
I want people to listen to my music and feel something. It’s more than just a song to turn up too or a song to feel sad too but more so a song that they can carry with them for a long time. A lot of the music I listen too is music I carry with me always in my mind or my heart.

Any new music coming out soon?
Absolutely, I have big plans for my future in the industry and therefore I have a lot of new music coming out soon within the next few months.

What is your greatest achievement as a musician?
My greatest achievement as a musician would be recording and releasing my first song. No matter what happens in the future, that is always going to be my biggest achievement.

Do you produce your own music?
If not, who do you work with? I work with a multitude of producers who sometimes make the beat alone or sometimes with my help. I engineer my own vocals.

Who is one artist you wish you could work with?
Michael Jackson

Tell us about any new music you have coming out? When is it coming out? What is it about?
As I don’t want to disclose too much, all I can say is I have so much in store, and I am very excited to put these projects/songs out.

What does a day inside your shoes look like?
The same as anyone who is trying to make something out of barely anything. A lot of it is frustration and stress and then there are those moments of heaven where things fall into place. Then it’s back to frustration.
