Fake Dad shares indie rock classic “ON/OFF”

Fake Dad are back baby and more rock n’ roll than ever. The duo, Andrea de Varona (she/her) and Josh Ford (he/him), have released the latest single “ON/OFF” off of their upcoming EP Holly Wholesome and the Slut Machine. The twosome have enlisted the help of Jeff Frantom on guitars (Blondshell) for this grunge-drenched indie rock anthem.

“ON/OFF” is an emotionally raw exploration of the dark sides of being a human in the modern world. The burnout, constant scrolling and bottled up sexual frustration that is so pervasive in society now is exquisitely detailed in Fake Dad’s new single. Andrea sings “Can you turn it all off / So you can turn me back on? / Can you ask me where it hurts / Need you here, you know I get nervous.” The song brings a raw, live feel to the ear, one that’s stripped of gloss and that doesn’t let any emotion go untapped. The sound is abrasive and jagged, as if the very essence of the music has been torn from the earth and thrown at the listener. It’s loud, uncomfortable, and thrilling in equal measure.

Fake Dad’s new music is focused on posers and the different masks people wear in their daily lives. The band has a genre-bending sound blending elements including rock, grunge, indie pop, punk and more. “ON/OFF” is another outstanding listen and welcome addition to their ever growing catalogue.
