16 year old indie pop singer/songwriter Lily Oyen brings a new single entitled “Heartsore”. The song features warm vocals, delicate ukulele and soaring melodies. Thematically, Oyen’s heartfelt lyrics in “Heartsore” details a painful end to a friendship that became one sided. Oyen was recently featured in Earmilk who deems her an artist who “creates exceptional music”.
Heartsore was written about an old friendship of mine that began to fall apart after it became one-sided. I kept trying to resuscitate what we had before, but my efforts were futile and it took me years to come to terms with it. Since I was never given any closure, this song was my own form of it. The song is also structured in a way that mirrors how I really dealt with the situation. In the beginning, I seek pity and wish for things that weren’t there, but as the song goes on I begin to realize why things turned out the way they did and I shift the blame from myself onto the other person. While originally I wasn’t going to release this song, I realized how much it helped me overcome something really difficult and wanted others who needed it to be able to hear it too.
