This year Mighloe has been our soundtrack for healing. Her honeyed R&B vocals are always welcome in our inbox, like when we discovered her through confidence ballad ‘Don’t Call Me’ or vulnerable song ‘Rainy Days’.
The emotional depth that this Canadian riser showcases through her songwriting and performance is something to be wowed by. Sadly due to the state of the world, we ain’t going to see Mighloe in a live setting quite yet, so when she dropped her live performance of single ‘Cruel’ we has to watch it. Set in the woods, Mighloe is a vision dripping in pearls and wearing a simple dress and corset get-up. She’s opulent, minimalist and absolutely flawless in her vocal performance as well as stage presence.
“Cruel is my empowerment. It is a reminder of who I once was; Broken. And of the strength it took to put myself back together. The resilience. I am better now. I am free. I am powerful. Your cruelness will never again take a toll on me,” says Mighloe of the powerful message held within ‘Cruel’.
