We’re in Asha Gold heaven listening to ‘Up To Me’

Sprinkling with vibrant arrangements, ‘Up To Me’ is the pop talent’s newest offering – we’re in Asha Gold heave! Soundtrack to the summer, this number is the brainchild of the British-Indian songstress and Louis Fulford Smith from Bamily – their stamp is unmistakable!

Asha’s vocals are mellifluous and marry perfectly to the bubbly production – playful and inventive. With a neat balance of giddy and woozy elements, the production reveals a surprise after the other. It is sweet like candy and tasteful like a well balanced full-course meal, the kind you cannot stop thinking about. Truly unmatched, Asha Gold’s musical identity is fresh, unique and rich. Her upcoming EP is going to be highly anticipated from our side, ‘Up To Me’ was the crucial appetizer.

“I had a lot of fun writing ‘Up To Me’ – the quicker tempo pushed me to be inventive with melody and challenged me to tell a story without crowding the space with too many words. The lyrics encapsulate a sort of playful nostalgia: it’s about growing up and entering the real world, and therefore losing the freedom to carelessly spend hours upon hours with my favourite people. I play on the idea of wanting to keep someone trapped inside so that I can have 100% of their time. Louis hints at this needy, childlike behaviour in the production – the beat is incessant whilst the instruments and samples are super playful. I’m so excited to have this track out, in time for a (hopefully) sunny August!”
