Tylo TinyAmp recently shared a powerful collaboration, “Crenshaw Madness,” with DJ Battlecat and the late Uncle Chucc. The track, originally intended for Nipsey Hussle, carries deep emotional weight for Tylo. “It was a blessing,” he says, recalling the moment Battlecat played the beat in the studio. “It didn’t take long for us to create magic.”
The track holds extra significance because of Uncle Chucc’s involvement, whose unmistakable voice graces the hook. Reflecting on Chucc’s legacy, Tylo says, “It’s special because it was for Nipsey, produced by a legend for a legend, with another long-lost legend on the hook.” He expresses the bittersweet reality of releasing the song after Chucc’s passing, admitting that the hardest part was “Not having Uncle Chucc here to receive his flowers for his work and efforts.”
As for Battlecat, Tylo holds nothing but admiration for the legendary producer, who he describes as a “big brother.” Their chemistry in the studio was undeniable. “When we create, it’s like magic,” Tylo says. “I just sit there in awe at the things that he’s able to do.” Together, they crafted a sound that reflects the heart of Los Angeles, encapsulated in Tylo’s favorite lyric from the track: “Crenshaw stretched from Wilshire to Torrance.”
For Tylo, Crenshaw Madness isn’t just a song; it’s a tribute to his city, a representation of the authentic Los Angeles experience. He explains, “Crenshaw is just so L.A., and that’s what I expressed in this song.” The park scene in the music video, which Tylo calls his favorite moment, epitomizes the familial and genuine atmosphere that he wanted to capture.
Looking ahead, Tylo TinyAmp is focused on continuing the momentum with new visuals, projects, and expanding his Crenshaw by Nature brand. With plans for a collaboration featuring Dom Kennedy, produced by Grammy-winner Don Cannon, Tylo shows no signs of slowing down. “I didn’t start on my own, and I’m humble enough to know I need support to continue on,” he says, sending a shoutout to all who’ve supported him along the way.
Through “Crenshaw Madness,” Tylo honors his roots, the legends he’s worked with, and the community that has uplifted him.
