What is your name and what city do you rep?
My name is CasinoATX aka The Partyvile Mayor, and I rep Austin Texas!
Tell us about your latest releases, what inspired you to create them?
I’ve been dropping singles and videos for the past 6 months. The top three being Yoda, All About the Dollar Bill, and my lead single Poppin’. I’ve always been a fast writer, and a very visual person, so creating songs that had specific video ideas to go with them was the inspiration. With the pandemic still raging I’ve found the best way to connect with my fans, and make new ones was to create great songs and combined visuals. All three songs are good, but made even better by presenting them with creative and eye catching videos.
What is unique about you and your music?
I’m the perfect blend of the hip hop street culture and the hip hop nerd or intellectual culture, and it intertwines all through my music. You could drop my music in just about any environment, and they will find something that they like. I also like to present things in an amusing light. Even the hard parts of life, so it makes it easier for people to relate to me.
What shaped your music?
My music is shaped from my wild times living in Austin. Austin has a pretty crazy night life scene, and you can get into something every single night of the week. That’s where the Partyville Mayor moniker comes from. I like to have a good time, and tend to make music for people to have a good time too. I’ve also lived all over the country from the east coast, to the west coast, and of course the south where I’m from. I’ve taken a little bit of the hip hop culture from every area I’ve lived and added it into my style.
When did you realize you were going to make music professionally?
I got into music at a really early age, through my grandmother. She put me into guitar lessons and piano lessons. My mother was a writer and new reporter as I was growing up as well, and that’s where my love of writing came from. So pretty early on, I began writing music and songs, and by the time I was in high school I was writing my own songs, and trying to pursue a music career. I had a show on our local radio station by the time I was 16, and began doing shows and performing that same year. So I’ve been at it since an early age.
What type of music do you listen to?
I mostly listen to rap of course, but I also listen to a lot of R&B. Primarily R&B from the 80’s and the 90’s. I also like rock music from that same era as well. I have pretty eclectic taste when it comes to music, and enjoy all sorts of music. Probably the only thing I don’t listen to is Polka, LOL.
What inspires you to write music?
I write a lot about my life experiences, and it’s a great way to relieve my own personal stress. I also like to write about the things I see going on in our country and the world all over.
What do you do when you don’t do music (creative or otherwise) and that you are passionate about?
I write a lot. I write stories, and also write for a YouTube show that I have called Nerdy McFly. Writing is a huge passion of mine, and I write all sorts of things. I also love to spend a lot of time with my kids, and help them find their passions in life.
Happiness to you is…
Making a living doing what your passionate about. Watching your children succeed in their pursuits in life.
What do you wish you were told when you first started making music that you think would help artists just starting out?
Be yourself. Read every contract three times before signing. Vet every person or company in the game before spending any money with them.
Tell us about your upcoming projects…
I just dropped my single Poppin’ which is the lead single from my upcoming album The Street Nerd. It’ll be dropping in March 2022. This will be my first release under my new deal with CHHK / The Orchard / Sony. The Street Nerd chronicles my early years of life in the music business, and growing up in Austin. It’s a mixture of party music, real life music, as well as my thoughts on life as a self proclaimed rapping nerd. I think people will find a little bit of everything on this project, and it will give people a real glimpse into my life, and get listeners to having a good time.
Where do we find you music / music projects?
My music is really easy to find. I’m on all the major streaming services under CasinoATX. I really encourage people to go check out my YouTube page, where you can watch my music videos, and check out my show! You can download my older projects and mixtapes on my Bandcamp page under CasinoATX as well. Of course you can find me all over social media by looking for CasinoATX or Partyville Mayor.
