Battleflagg shares EP ‘Solastalgia’ a once in a lifetime listening experience

‘Solastalgia’ is the new EP from Philly based singer-songwriter and musician Battleflagg. The EP is composed of four songs that fuse genres including alternative rock, synth pop, folk and more. Battleflagg collaborated with an all-star team of prolific musicians on the new EP as well as producer extraordinaire Daniel Knowles. The result is one of the best releases of the year so far and a once in a lifetime listening experience.

The EP begins with his single “Ghosts”. The song is all-encompassing and larger than life. It features swirling guitars, engaging melodies and dreamy synthesizers. The single is a cosmic trip that blends psychedelia, pop, and rock in a way that feels both introspective and expansive. Then there is “Solastalgia- 4 a.m. version”, a melancholic standout that features Battleflagg’s most reflective lyrics: “And the wind is so bitter / it cuts like a riffle / since when did we go to war / is it raining on you / its raining on me.” The production here is sparse yet filled with subtle intricacies—a perfect illustration of his ability to weave emotionally complex moments with sonic textures that almost feel tactile. Another standout is “I Gotta Love” a song that embodies both a sense of optimism and uncertainty. Soulful vocals, a blazing horn section and driving guitars complete this musical envelopment.

‘Solastalgia’ is a stunning, multidimensional EP that sees Battleflagg refining and expanding their sound. Check out the new music video as well as the full EP below.
