Los Angeles based artist KiKi Holli isn’t just a powerhouse singer but she is also a prolific songwriter. Her new EP is called Something About You and it is a five song collection, each song having its own story and journey in its own right.
Something About You begins with the title track, a cinematic longing of love, desire, and connection. The mysterious guitars lull the listener in while KiKi’s warm tone enthralls. Then there is “The Garden” a lush and layered song that is described as a “summer escape”. Floating ethereal vocals over stacked pop rock soundscapes sound sun-drenched and joyful. With her cover of “Don’t Change” by INXS, her emotive and breathtakingly beautiful vocals take center stage. The song is a soft and slow-burning rendition of the original. My favorite song on the EP is the bold pop rock track “Brand New Day”. KiKi showcases her desire to take back control and embrace self-love over hate.
All in all Something About You is a musical escape worth exploring. In a space where atmosphere often overshadows substance, KiKi Holli & The Remedy strike a rare balance, delivering a sound that is as immersive as it is deeply felt.
