Australian singer-songwriter Nardia has spent years moving between soul, R&B, blues, and jazz. On her forthcoming album, Own Every Scar, she brings those influences into sharper focus while turning inward.
Due Sept. 18, the 10-track album was recorded across Melbourne, Nashville, Memphis, and Los Angeles. The project explores resilience, vulnerability, healing, and self-acceptance, with production contributions from Grammy-winning Memphis producer Boo Mitchell, Darin James, and Australian producer Ivan Khatchoyan of Choi Productions.
The album’s title track serves as a centerpiece for Nardia’s latest chapter. “Own Every Scar” pairs R&B and soul with blues-rooted textures as Nardia reflects on the experiences that shape a person. Nardia and James share writing credits on the song, while James produced the track and Mitchell handled the mix at Memphis’ Royal Studios.
The song’s message mirrors the broader concept behind the album: confronting the past without allowing it to define what comes next. Rather than hiding difficult experiences, Nardia frames them as part of a larger story of growth and self-acceptance.
Own Every Scar follows Nardia’s breakout single “Is It You,” which reached No. 1 on the U.S. Urban Influencer Independent R&B/Soul Chart. Her profile expanded internationally in 2025 when she reached the Top 5 at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, reportedly becoming the only female performer to make the finals among more than 400 competing acts.
Those experiences inform an album that places Nardia’s genre-spanning background alongside a deeply personal perspective. Across Own Every Scar, she embraces the tension between vulnerability and strength, using contemporary soul to make a simple case for accepting every part of the journey — scars included.
