AVIV and OCTAVIO the Dweeb collaborate on energized “Black Coffee Remix”

AVIV and OCTAVIO the Dweeb recently teamed up for a remix of AVIV’s acclaimed “Black Coffee” and the collaboration couldn’t be more delightful.

AVIV who recently signed with Photo Finish Records, is a 15-year-old singer/songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist from Toronto who is best known for her thoughtful and earnest bedroom pop hits. OCTAVIO the Dweeb is an alt-pop star on the rise, known for his experimental flavor and immaculate guitar delivery.

Together the duo created a versatile and warm track that drips with glazed synths, stirring guitar, and vibrant cinematics that make for a perfect Sunday afternoon escape with a pop edge. The song itself is about accepting loss of relationships that resulted from the pandemic. AVIV confides, “With COVID, a lot of my friendships and my friends’ romantic relationships just came to a full stop,” she observes. “People drifted. When you pour out your cup of black coffee, there are all of these grains in the bottom that stay there. Those grains are all of the things that could’ve been pursued, but the cup was already poured out. That’s the deeper meaning.” Without changing the song’s meaning, OCTAVIO the Dweeb adds his prominent vocals to the mix, adding contrast to AVIV’s sweet and tender delivery while also giving the song a conversational feel.

With both artists on the rise, their collaboration gives the listener a multi-layered, ear candy effect while at the same time offering the perfect song to paint a picture of the times.
