Puerto Rican-born, New Orleans-raised R&B artist José Quervo (Kenteon Jose Rodriguez) turns survival into sensuality on his new 13-track album, Aqua Man. After surviving Stage 4 cancer, Quervo approached the project with a renewed perspective on life, love and second chances. What began as music made while confronting his mortality ultimately became a statement of rebirth.
Produced by three-time Grammy-winning producer Deezle, with contributions from Nov Did It, Aqua Man blends R&B, trap, hip-hop and Latin influences into a sound that feels equally suited to late-night drives and intimate moments. 808s rumble beneath hypnotic basslines while electric guitar and atmospheric production give the album a fluid, immersive quality. Water serves as both a recurring theme and sonic texture throughout the project.
Tracks including “SEX ON THE CEILING,” “DEEP,” “YOU DESERVE IT” and the title track lean into Quervo’s mission to bring intimacy and vulnerability back to R&B. Elsewhere, “BO$$ BIH” featuring A1 La’Salsa adds a Latin edge, reflecting the Puerto Rican influence that has remained central to his identity. With influences ranging from Michael Jackson and Jodeci to The Weeknd, Bad Bunny and Drake, Quervo occupies a space where sensual R&B meets melodic hip-hop and Latin music. His background as a dancer also shapes the music’s physicality, giving the project a natural emphasis on rhythm and movement.
Jose Quervo’s Aqua Man is about what comes after survival: embracing another chance, loving without reservation and refusing to take the opportunity for granted.
